Consultation

In September 1997 a consultation exercise, funded by Ponteland Parish Council, was undertaken with the aim of establishing the views of the community.  Four thousand leaflets were distributed and the questionnaire was reproduced in the local press.  Of the three hundred and nineteen responses, 42% indicated their preference for limited restoration to secure the future of the Pele and 37% for restoration with a modest extension.  Fifty-five respondents expressed a wish to attend a public meeting.

This was held at Ponteland High School on 1st October 1997 when the results of the consultation exercise were outlined together with the proposed aims and objectives of the Working Group.  These were adopted without amendment and the Group was charged with the task of proceeding with the project.
